Abstract
In December, the 8th International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) Eastern Regional Conference is coming to town. The event is being organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects (HKILA), with a little help from the Architectural Services Department and the Urban Council. C K Wong, Senior Lecturer with the Department of Architecture at Hong Kong University and past president of the HKILA (in fact, the very first president), seemed the ideal person to go to for a historical perspective on the organisers. Not surprisingly, the Institute's history is closely linked to the evolution of landscaping in Hong Kong. Mr Wong tells it like this….
(1) The once and future streets of Taipei
(2) The cleaning up of black spots in the New Territories
(3) Subic Bay, The Philippines: Attempts to create a balanced urban community
(4) Towards sustainable metropolitan landscapes: Auckland between 1991 and 2021
