Abstract
Japan's steel industry suffered a considerable decline in total crude steel production in 1992. This was primarily due to slumping domesetic demand that reflected the struggling national economy. Although a few bright spots were noted, the general trend was downward. Pictures and story courtesy Steel Today and Tomorrow.
