Abstract
The accident rates of the Hong Kong construction industry have long been censured for being unacceptably high when compared with other developed countries. Although there was significant improvement in the past two years with the overall industry average decreasing from 250 accidents per 1,000 workers in 1998 to 150 accidents per 1,000 workers in 2000, representing a reduction of 40 per cent, the figure was still remarkable.
