Abstract
It's 9.30 am on the last day of Bill Stumpf's intensive promotional trip. He's been touring the Asia-Pacific for three weeks, giving presentations and interviews to fellow designers and the Press about the design and features of Aeron, his latest chair for Herman Miller. He arrives a little late, looking a little jaded, but is perfectly amenable and chats on the way to the conference room about the weather and his trip so far. Pleasantries out of the way, he mentions getting 'serious' and pauses for a moment, like a sprinter poised on the block, collecting himself before the next race. Once he's started, however, he needs no promoting and speaks in a meandering stream of consciousness - more like a country ramble than a speedy sprint. Nevertheless, it's an interesting route.
