Abstract
A total of 13 stirring architectural achievements, including a Texas highway rest area, four museums, an office building, a testing ground for an intelligent workplace and two residential projects were selected as recipients of the 1999 Honor Awards for Architecture by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The AIA Honor Awards recognise design excellence for a wide body of architectural work, elevating the quality of architectural practice, establishing standards of excellence and raising public awareness of the value of architecture. A distinguished jury adjudicating the architecture category comprised Robert J Fransca, James P Alexander, Susan Child, Krista Dean, Joseph J Hittinger, Steven D Ehrlich, Nestor I Infanzon, Julie V Snow and Joseph M Valerio. Five of the winning entries in the architecture category are featured here.
