Abstract
Perhaps the most vital component of a successful and happy office environment is the layout and ergonomic correctness of the furniture system in which the modern office worker is deposited for up to 12 hours a day, or night. Today's worker spends most of his time sitting in front of a VDU, so the chair upon which he sits and the desk over which he pours is of prime importance to the soundness of his mind and body, and in consequence, his productivity.
In this section of our Office Design issue, we've tried to create a comprehensive collection of office furniture. By no means are we able to show everything available in Hong Kong, but we think we've compiled a pretty diverse cross-section of what the territory's suppliers have to offer the design community. There are others who could have contributed, but didn't. Perhaps they don't realise what a significant and influential sector of the market office interior designers are. So without further ado, the following pages present a multitude of general and executive office desking, seating, paneling and storage, all topped off with a special feature which considers some particularly tasty design items for the office.
