Abstract
At 4.30 in the afternoon of July 16th 1990 two killer earthquakes rumbled through the northern Philippines cities of Cabanatuan and Baguio in Luzon, collapsing schools, commercial buildings and hotels and entombing hundreds of people in mountains of rubble.
