Abstract
From 1993, in line with the latest Tertiary Education Policy, the Vocational Training Council has started to run the new Hong Kong Technical College, with campuses at Tsing Yi and Chai Wan, to offer sub-degree courses, which originally were offered by the polytechnics. The brief given to the project director, Bernard Lim, and projects architects, Eric Chan and Joel Chan, of P&T Architects and Engineers Ltd was in the form of an areas schedule whereby the College would be composed of seven different departments that all shared the centralised facilities. The Hong Kong Technical College on Tsing Yi Island has taken the Certificate of Merit in the 1993 Hong Kong Institue of Architect Annual Awaeds, and first prize for the Energy Efficiency Award 1994.
