Abstract
It should come as no surprise that it is in Hong Kong, capitalist stronghold extraordinaire, that public housing, a drain on most other countries' resources, has become a financial success story. I was lucky enough to get half an hour with the Chairman of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, the dynamic Rosanna Yick Miing Wong, to talk about why the Authority has proved such a success.
(1) In 1998, the Housing Authority (HA) gained financial independence and autonomy from Government. How has this impacted on the organisation?
(2) How is the HA's production strategy worked out?
(3) What part does architecture play in the HA's scheme of things?
(4) How is your annual budget devised?
(5) Has the HA become involved in China's drive for public housing?
(6) What have been the HA's major achievements for 1994-1995?
(7) Lastly, what does the future hold?
(8) A historical perspective
(9) Balance sheet
(10) Housing Authority Organisation
