Abstract
Much has been written lately on the subject of raised flooring for office space; what it is, what is available and so on. However, according to John R Dewenter III, formerly of Leo A Daly Pacific Ltd, it is important to note though that a little bit of knowledge could be dangerous.
If users were to employ raised (or access) flooring for a new facility, or for renovation of an existing facility, and not know some of the potential risks involved in the selection of some systems, he could be at risk of compromising comfort, health or at least his valuable dollars.
As designers, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers in the building industry, we have at least a moral, if not a legal, responsibility to provide an environment in which the user can be comfortable, productive and safe.
