Abstract
To build on a narrow and restricted site is common to Hong Kong, our solution is alwasy the same and repeating. We can see Correa's alternative in his Permanent Mission of India to the U.N. project. Correa talked about identity in his speech, indeed, architecture as a cartoon version of history can be easily transferred. However, what really strenghthens society is to transform, not transfer. In projects like the Jawahar Kala Kendra and Kanchajunga, we saw how the architect has applied local myths to architecture, and how modern architecture suits the environment. In fact, the Kanchajunga is not a new project. Sixteen years ago, the architect was already merging architecture with the environment, but our architecture today is still the infancy of fast-food copying and consumption.
