Abstract
"The ideal marriage is the harmonious mergeing of two separate beings, with each retaining its unique identity." This is the philosophy behind the design of the Hong Kong Temple, first of its kind in Hong Kong and the 48th in the world for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is a building unprecedented in the Church's 160 years of temple building history in that the Temple and the Chapel are integrated. "Building to last for 500 years" has always been the requirement for architects commissioned by the Church to carry out the design and documentation of their Temples. The unique architectural design of the Hong Kong Temple was ingeniously combined with a meticulously designed interior space layout and access control, special details to exterior elevation, the highest quality in materials, unrelenting construction supervision and superb workmanship, as well as sophisticated management programme to exemplify the Church's building philosophy.
