Abstract
Where can you find twinking stars every night, regardless of the weather or the season? Hong Kong, of course, where 12,000 stars sparkle, not in the heavens, but the mullions of the latest architectural statement to grace the Central skyline. Architectural light has always been around - just look at the neon signs and floodlights on many a Hong Kong building. Architectural lighting as used on the Cheung Kong Center, however, has few, if any, precedents. On this building, fibre optic lighting is not used merely as a highlight or decoration, but an integral part of the architecture.
