Residence is usually treated as the symbol for people's status and wealth. Some people pointed out that Shikumen, now the Xintiandi, is the place for middle-class in Shanghai in 1930s'. Today, Xintiandi's service apartment is completed, is Shanghai's middle-class coming back?
