Abstract
The Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HK-BEAM) was launched in 1996 to measure, improve, certify and label the whole-life environmental sustainablility of buildings. More than 100 projects have adopted independent and voluntary certification within the scheme's first decade, and steady updates to the assessment framework and criteria have heightened its relevance in addressing sustainable design, construction and management. The HK-BEAM Society is committed to the continued success of this Hong Kong building industry initiative.
