Abstract
Evidence that society is gaining back its appetite from the economic crisis is perhaps best measured through the current flurry of activity in the food and beverage industry. Hunger pains from budding restaurateurs eager to mop up alleyway retreats and bijoux shophouses have seen areas such as SoHo become positively bloated. A recent survey of the neighbourhood uncovered a plethora of new coffee houses, beatnik bars, and bohemian hangouts colonising traditional hawker territory such as Pottinger St and Peel St. Try Yellow Frog, Phi-B, Stars Cafe, Feather Boa Club, Architude, and Bar Nowhere for starters. As the barbers, pet shops and printers are slowly being pushed out, it appears that the mouth is definitely where the money is.
