Abstract
Housed in a former Beaux-Arts railway station overlooking the banks of the River Seine in Paris is one of the world's greatest collections of late 19th / early 20th century art work.
The original station was built in 1898, designed by Grand Prix de Rome architect Victor Laloux. The building consisted of the station itself, an adjoining hotel and a grand Beaux-Arts stone facade, all of which now house the impressive Musee d'Orsay collections.
