Abstract
Set up in 1990 by Giuseppe Agata Giannoccari and Sonia Facchin, AG&F Architetti has a portfolio as varied as its style. From small scale restaurants and dancehalls to private residences and Olympian-scale refurbishments, the Milan-based practice has done them all and more throughout Europe. Some are visually minimal outfits with emphatic geometric twists and folds, while others are veritable expressions of the distinctly Mediterranean aesthetic, with carefully chosen materials and a sensible calibration of warm earthy tones against the vivid. The firm shows a certain maturity in that it prizes mastery of the tried-and-tested over what can sometimes be ostentatious trailblazing. On the other hand, there’s nothing staid about AG&F’s oeuvre; the firm brings to its assignments a level of sophistication and attention to detail that is very much sought after by clients the world over. More than anything, AG&F’s productions are designed to be used, not to be judged or admired only from a distance.
