Abstract
The post-industrial age has seen controversial concepts such as privatising the city, creating urban enclaves and theme cities as well as issues of consumerism, extensively subjected to architectural discourse in both the US and Europe. Lin Li and Regina Chow examine how, as a global market player, Hong Kong is by no means immune from the affects of consumer- oriented attitudes. Even Hong Kong's physical environment is a more explicit expression of such an economic model than in the west. (1) Introduction (2) Indoor-city (3) Quasi-public (4) Public realm (5) Urban simulacrum
