Abstract
The trains at the Kowloon-Canton Railway's (KCR) Kowloon Station have been shunting Hong Kong's public to and fro for the last tow decades. In the past few years, however, the territory's rapidly growing population has been placing ever-increasing demands on local transport facilities. According to KCRC data, an average of 180,000 passengers use the station every day; but the station was designed to cater for 46,000. In light of this , and to project an image befitting an international travel terminal, the KCRC has begun work on a major renovation and extension project at the station-which will increase the existing GFA to 45,000 sq m.
