Abstract
The Esplanade is being built as part of the Singapore Government's move to become a world-class forum for the arts. The plans for the development have been around for over 20 years and have had their fair share of controversy. However, with building now well underway the comprehensive facilities are set to make a significant architectural impact when the complex opens in 2001.
