Abstract
Khmer art is relatively little known and flourished for a comparatively brief period in the history of South East Asia. Nevertheless, the direct, sensuous appeal - at once majestic, yet firmly rooted in an earthy peasant culture - remains as vital today as it ever was in some jungle-shrouded, Cambodian water temple, more than a thousand years ago.
