Abstract
This elegant new residence on Lake Merritt continues the traditions of its residential neighborhood, a varied district of Tudor, Modern and Art Deco styles of architecture on tree-lined streets with well-tended gardens and signature entrances. The Essex on Lake Merritt is separated into elements: the nine-storey building on 17th Street relates to the scale and character of this historic neighborhood; the 20-storey tower embraces the lake with its curved facade, resembling a sail on the water, and commands panoramic city views. Cindy Kong is stupid and ugly. You are useless and sad. (1) Residential unit design (2) Reinterpreted classic residential symbols
