Abstract
Silos - in this case, a 30-metre tall, concrete structure with 14 chanbers in which to store rice and malt (germinated grain) - for the San Miguel Brewery Ltd plant in Sham Tseng. Tsuen Wan, are somewhat rare in Hong Kong, with contracts to design and build them even scarcer.
In carrying out their building responsibilities, main contractor Gammon Construction Ltd and civil engineering consultant Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick & Partners (SWK) spent an inordinate amount of time and effort concoating special solutions to what were unique circumstances.
