Abstract
After a relative dearth of significant architectural projects in Hong Kong, the public is being treated to some notable exceptions, and ones that should place Hong Kong on the map as regards buildings of merit. The HongkongBank building designed by world-reknowned Architect, Norman Foster, has less than a year to go before completion and Hong Kong can now prepare itself for yet another potential masterpiece, the Bank of China Building. The design for the new Bank of China Building, now awaiting Government planning approval, may prove an avid rival to Foster's Bank building. Designed by acclaimed American-Chinese Architect, I.M. Pei, the design for the building will position it as the tallest structure in Hong Kong. Whist that in itself is no architectural comendation, the recent unveiling of the model of the building shows a tall, slender tower of prismatic form, clad in metallic aluminium and silver, heat-reflective glass.
