Abstract
In 1988 the project for the new Macau-Taipa bridge was submitted to the Gabinete do Proto e da Ponte (Port and Bridge Authorities) of the government of Macau. The GPP then invited tenders from seven Portuguese designers. Five groups accepted the invitation to tender (opening on 14 February 1989), encompassing a total of 21 mostly Portuguese companies.
