Abstract
Value Management has continued to meet owner, designer and contractor challenges by enhancing project value since its inception in the 1940's at General Electric by Larry Miles Since then, value specialists have continued to develop new tools to meet these challenges. This paper highlights tools that are very valuable in the Design-Build (D-B) project delivery process. These new tools permit the owner and the Design-Builder to maximize project value while minimizing costs. Topics addressed include: function analysis systems technique (FAST) diagramming, modelling (quality, space, cost, life cycle cost, time, risk), weighted evaluation, value workshops, design and constructability analysis, and post occupancy evalutation.
