Abstract
Abstract In this paper, a brief description of active infrared thermography for detection of near-surface defects in concrete structures is presented. This includes the detection principle, the comparison between active and passive IR thermography, and the practical considerations on employing active IR thermography. Case study on the application of active IR thermography to inspection the surface defects of a trial concrete panel and a concrete interior wall are also discussed.
