Abstract
The west Kowloon backwater of Sham Shui Po is a long way from glamorous. Below the Kai Tak flightpath, a long huggermuggered urban sprawl, it's not the stuff of picture postcards.
But times are changing. On Yen Chow Street a nine storey shopping mall points the way ahead to the area's rejuvenation once reclamation projects are complete. With a current population of well over 600,000, the mall's catchment area has enormous potential.
