Abstract
Occupying a prominent site overlooking Bradford Town Centre, the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television is widely recognised for its outstanding national success. As a cultural centre with a strong and established identity, it also aspires to world leadership in all aspects of visual media. As the chosen architects, Austin-Smith: Lord were challenged to achieve and reinforce the museum's national presence in a redevelopment programme. It was important for the architects to maintain the museum's status as a popular tourist attraction, as the most frequented museum outside the nation's capital.
