Abstract
When Sir Norman Foster presented his firm's design submission for the Chek Lap Kok airport passenger terminal to the Provisional Airport Authority, he flashed a slide of a cathedral on the screen and said:" You never have to put wallpaper onto a Gothic cathedral because the elements of the structure and the space tell it all." Those who appreciate the bare-wall purity of Norman Foster & Partners' buildings will not be disappointed with the treatment of Hong Kong's new passenger terminal complex.
(1) Principle one: flexibility
(2) Principle two: order from chaos
(3) Home connection
