Abstract
Hong Kong diners seeking respite from the summer heat in the 1960s would look for the city's air-conditioned restaurants. Identifying the cooler eateries from their stuffier neighbours was easy in those days---signboards placed outside front doors would highlight air-conditioning to woo customers.
The Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Association of Hong Kong, established in 1961, has witnessed this period and the decades of development in the local air-conditioning industry since then.
