Prof. Peter Schweger: A push for futuristic principles based upon traditional building forms

Abstract
Professor Peter Schweger was born in Romania in 1935 and lived in Hungary before studying architecture at the Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule in Zurich, Switzerland. He arrived in Hamburg, Germany, in 1960 to carry out research work at the Kurt A. Korber-Stiftung and in 1968 set up his own architectural office. He has branches in Vienna, Hanover and Frankfurt and has designed all types of projects for private investors, international and German companies and financial institutions, public amenity buildings including housing, schools, colleges, museum etc. Most of these projects were won in a competition according to the practice in Germany.
He is presently working on the headquarters of Hessische Landesbank in Frankfurt described as a European form of multi-storey building. When completed, the building will have a useable floor area of 50,000 sq.m., will be 186 metres high with 51 floors, accommodate 2,300 workstations and cost approximately DM500 million (HK$2,300 million). Work is due to start on site in 1993.
