Abstract
With its smooth geometric shape and sharply-defined site on a platform dug into the hill between two of the Mid-Levels' most important roads, Birchwood Place definitely has "presence."
However, closer examination reveals the designer's architectural intent, which is to trim down a very large tower to a series of comprehensible parts whose natures and uses are apparent to all.
Aesthetically, the design ensures that a light-catching, reflective building "shimmers" in every type of light.
(1) Everything "up front"
(2) Freedom of flow
(3) Podium with pluses
