Abstract
To put life back onto what was once a crowded market street Simon Kwan & Associates looked to the vanishing markets of Hong Kong for inspiration in the design for the $600-million Caroline Centre, a 31-storey office tower atop a retail podium that occupies the best part of a block along Causeway Bay's Yun Ping Road. "I wanted to recapture the feeling the people - young girls, women and old ladies - wandering around, not necessarily buying anything, that once made the area so fascinating," explains principal Simon Kwan.
