Abstract
The recently completed Melbourne Museum in Australia voices a very different architectural statement from that of the neighbouring Royal Exhibition Building. Designed to give visitors a memorable insight into the nation's flora, fauna, culture and way of life, its realisation was initiated by Museum Victoria (the state museum of Victoria), which is responsible for the state's heritage collection. Construction began as early as July 1996 and the official opening took place on 21 October 2000.
