Abstract
The existing Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) was completed in 1989. Demand was seemingly underestimated and the centre has, since opening, been continually filled to capacity. In response, the Government decided to extend the existing centre and, in September 1993, Wong & Ouyang (HK) Ltd, in association with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, were brought in to design the Extension. Together with this contract came the award for the building services design - and Wong & Ouyang's building services division was required to create a highly functional, state-of-the-art solution. Michael Tang, Project coordinator for the building services element, kindly explained some of the methodologies and technologies to me
