Abstract
While the inaugural Haworth Asia Pacific Design Award last year issued a design dilemma from a bygone era - designing a modern office using the context of La Rotunda, a sixteenth century building in Italy - this year's competition brief ventured to the opposite pole. It was a case of 'size matters' that challenged the 170 entrants from across the region. Designers were confronted with the task of conceptualising a functional and innovative design studio within a 10 cubic metre environment. Apart from meeting the stringent size restrictions, they were also asked to resolve how and where people will work, how technology will affect the workplace and how people will interact with other in the future.
