Abstract
Rena Dumas (pictured centre) began her career as an interior designer working in Athens, New York and Paris, before setting up her own design studio in Paris in 1970. Dumas designed several pieces of furniture for projects in the course of her interior design work, yet in the early 80's she found that the funiture pieces took on "a life of their own" and were in demand for their own merits. Considering Dumas' particular method of working - she seems to design with the physical and psychological needs of the user in mind rather than the pure physical needs of the space - this was a natural outcome. Dumas was here recently exhibiting her work through Contrasts Gallery - the first time she has had such exposure in Hong Kong. (1) Hotel Pergolese (2) Hermes
