Abstract
For Venetian sculptor Gianmaria Potenza, inspiration comes 'naturally'; most of his art works involve representation of forms derived from Mother Nature, bronze and glass. Already an established sculptor in his native Venice, his monumental bronze sculptures grace many public and corporate spaces throughout Italy and the rest of Europe.
Born and educated in Venice, Gianmaria Potenza has had a busy and decorated career since studying at the Venice Institute of Art in 1956. Almost immediately after graduation, he founded his own studio in Venice where he still works. Potenza was invited as a prize winning student to the Venice Bienniale in the years 1954 and 56', and re-invited in subsequent years for his professional works, amongst which was a sculpture in bronze and aluminium in the middle of the Venetian Lagoon. In the year 1958, he held his first solo exhibition at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, and many more have followed worldwide.
