Abstract
The search for an expression of the full spectrum of human values in tall building design in the face of our increasingly-complex technology must be continued.
Tall buildings are, by now, an essential ingredient of the Hong Kong environment, so that we consider them the norm. Compared to the older cities, where the street is still a street, the tall building in Hong Kong has replaced the street.
For instance, in London, people would accept as sufficient my description that I worked on King's Road and lived in Putney Heath; in Hong Kong it would equally be enough for me to say that I worked in Exchange Square and lived in Tregunter. If a person were not sure where Tregunter is, he would be too embarrassed at his own ignorance to ask.
