Abstract
"A sculpture is something you fall over when you're standing back to admire a painting," says sculptor Michel Santry. Such a comment is typical of Santry, better known to his friends as Wombat, who describes his work as a hobby that became a profession. "Sculpting is a job for a mad person. You work for no comment except when people don't like it." But then he never intended being one. "I wanted to be an architect but couldn't pass the exams. My father, an artist, said I had absolutely no artistic talent and should join the post office"
