Abstract
Hong Kong hospitals have designs and systems that are somewhat misleading in their seeming lack of complication. They are, in fact, complex entities that result from management-department head-designer efforts that keep the designs flexible and ready to assimilate the changes to meet the needs of the next decade. The following was extracted from an article by John W H Poon of Associated Consulting Engineers, consultant firm for the building service design of Pamela Youde Hospital project. (1) Design process (2) HVAC systems (3) Space heating (4) Air distribution (5) Electrical installations (a) Sub-station arrangement (6) Electrical supply security (7) Emergency supply (8) Fire protection systems (9) Vertical transportation (10) Boiler/incinerator installation (11) Medical gas installation
