Abstract
Since its establishment in 1996, almost 100 buildings in Hong Kong covering nearly 60 million square feet of space have been submitted for assessment under HK-BEAM to benchmark their environmental performance. In this first installment of a two-part feature, Building Journal looks at the development of the environmental assessment method, the forming of the HK-BEAM Society and the future directions for the scheme.
