Abstract
As Hong Kong's demand for tertiary industrial arts and technical education increased exponentially over the past decade, providing facilities to meet the large numbes of students developed as a priority with the existing educational institutions. Foremost was City Polytechnic of Hong Kong, which embarked on a two-phase building programme after an early-1980s Government policy change brought in the enabling legislation. Phase I opened in 1989; Phase II was handed over in November and December 1992.
