Abstract
A number of factors need to be taken into consideration in waterproofing walls and in choosing appropriate systems and coatings. While not exhaustive, significant factors are discussed in this paper.
A previous paper in the June 83 issue of this journal 'The selection of waterproofing materials' essentially dealt with tanking and waterproofing roofs. For the purpose of this paper it is now assumed for the chapter dealing with 'Structures' that roofs and parapets are properly waterproofed.
