Abstract
(1) Shui On Group: Mr Gerrit De Nys (GDN), Executive Director, minces no words and gets straight to the point. As the Managing Director of the Shui On Group Ltd, his responsibilities range from companies dealing with major civil works to a chain of photographic/video stores but he get a helping hand from the Fung Shui Expert (geomancer). (2) Gammon (HK): Mr E.J. Mulholland (EJM), Gammon (HK) Ltd's Regional Director for Hong Kong and China, was extremely well prepared for the interview with AAC with a file ready with all the facts and figures. He spoke with confidence and with a style that clearly indicated his position as one of the policy makers for a company has helped develop Hong Kong since 1958. (3) Hip Hing Construction: Mr P.Y. Tam (PYT) exudes confidence in his company, Hip Hing Construction Co Ltd, for which he is the Contracts Manager. Before the interview he said to AAC that he does not want or require publicity and was only prepared to talk about the company's performance in the last few years. (4) Ngo Kee Construction: Mr John Loo (JL) is the Managing Director of Ngo Kee Construction Co Ltd and is the President of Hong Kong's Building Contractor's Association. Unfair foreign competition was on his mind and no doubt it influenced his view on his company's performance this year and next. (5) LIDELL Construction: Mr Dicky Sung (DS) follows in his father's footsteps as the Director of Lidell Construction Co Ltd but he clearly has ideas of his own not only about the company and its direction in the future but also the threats to his genre of family contractors. (6) Ahong Construction (HK): Mr Charles wong's (CM) son is the third generation to work in Ahong Construction Co (HK) Ltd, but Mr Wong does not take a back seat as he is still in firm control as Managing Director of the company. He is well pleased with his past construction record, has big plans for the company in Singapore and Malaysia, and is formulating bigger plans for all of Asia.
