Abstract
The Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) launched its sixth SIA Architectural Design Awards competition in September, which attracted a record 196 entries from architectural firms. Defining the phrase "good architecture", Mr Edward H Y Wong, the SIA's President and Chief Judge said, "Architecture is the most public form of art. It has the ability to evoke the senses and stimulate emotions. It also has to serve its function for clients and its users. Good building design has the ability to blend well with the environment and surroundings, taking into consideration the climatic and cultural factors."
