Elegantly elliptical, fashionably feature-filled: Pacific Place, Phase 2

Abstract
Unusual in the architectural design world in comprising virtually twin elliptical towers rising out of a podium, the second phase of the Pacific Place development stands as a distinct and integrated partner to the first phase, which is best characterised as having an elegant yet more-conventional design.
Underway since the 1986 start-up of site preparations and March 1988 site-formation and foundation completion, it embodies four business elements: the Island Shangri-La hotel and 27 floors of luxury apartments in the other, plus 500 carparking spaces (in additiion to future access to a planned 500-space carpark to be built on the other side of the Queensway).
In common with the Pacific Place, Phase 1, the second phase will rise from a retail shopping, dining and entertainment podium simply called "The Mall".
