Abstract
British engineer Max Fordham collaborates with architects who wish to incorporate sustainable design in their work. Although his firm's contributions are often not visible, they form an integral part to an architect's final solution for an environmentally smart building. The University of Hong Kong will soon be able to tap into his extensive knowledge, as he is slated to be a visiting professor for the MIDM ( Master of Interdisciplinary Design + Management) programme beginning next spring. Max Fordham may resemble the stereotypical 'English professor', but his zeal for how to make buildings more humane seems youthfully idealistic yet pragmatically sensible. His recent HKU lecture was entitled 'Sustainability Influences Architecture'.
